Literary Festival 2019 at Weston Museum!

Wow! What a brilliant week of events for this year’s Lit Fest. For the 2nd year running the Museum played host to an abundance of talks, workshops and book signings. The Learning Space and Courtyard created an atmospheric setting, with Clara’s Café offering delicious coffee and cake in-between events. Emma van Woerkom, a poet who was shortlisted for the 2017 Saboteur Awards said “It has been an exciting opportunity to devise and run a creative poetry writing workshop based around specific historical artifacts at Weston Museum.” Those who attended commented on how the workshop was “Inspiring and encouraging…..Thought provoking and productive”

Not only were there poetry workshops but children’s story telling and activities. The brilliant Claire Barker, author of the Knitbone Pepper series offered an exciting children’s interactive workshop and reading. The learning space with its clever cloud shaped sound clouds and comfy doughnut rings for the children to sit on proved to be a great space for imagination to run wild! (did you know you can also hire this space for your own events and children’s birthday parties!?!)

The lit fest also hosted an extremely popular Murder Mayhem and Mystery Talk as well as workshops on structuring your story!

For those of you who perhaps want to start putting pen paper but don’t know where to start…. Clara’s Café is the place! Throughout the festival people took the opportunity to sit in the ‘cosy corner’ and watch the world go by, sparking ideas for stories, novels and poetry.

Thank you for all the help the Museum team offered! We look forward to returning next year!
