Do you feel Halloween has become a bit commercial? Come and explore the traditional, British roots of Halloween by celebrating the Iron Age festival of Samhain. Imagine living amongst the Celtic forests by making some crafts and hearing about some grizzly Iron Age ways.

Hour long family-friendly workshops with a variety of make and take activities. These workshops are most suitable for children of school age and their grown-ups, but are accessible to all ages and abilities with adult support.

Make a cone basket to hang on your wall using natural colours of willow, grown on a nature reserve using organic methods. Cone basketry is an excellent introduction to the traditional skill of stake and strand basketry as it utilises just some of the techniques used in more complicated basketry

This workshop is led by Kim Creswell, whose work can be seen by visiting www.kimcreswell.co.uk

The workshop lasts 2.5 hours and spaces cost £40. Use of tools and all necessary materials are included. Participants should wear work clothes

Mosaic Workshop @ Weston Museum

A simple introduction to making beautiful mosaics from glass and ceramic mosaic tiles.

With the guidance of mosaic artist Kate Rattray, attendees will have the chance to make either a coaster or small picture, learning to cut the tiles, place, stick, and grout to make a finished piece to take home.

This workshop is aimed at grown-ups but does not require previous experience of mosaic making

Lego Technic Workshops @ Weston Museum

Take your Lego building to the next level with our Lego Technic workshops, in collaboration with the team from Gincandescence.
Test out your engineering skills and create moving mechanisms with gears and pulleys.

Session times – 10:30-11:30, 12:15-1:15, 2:00-3:00
These sessions are best suited to children aged 8 years and up.

Pre-booking recommended, tickets cost £7 and will be available for purchase once the museum reopens following current government advice during the isolation period. Accompanying adults do not need to purchase a separate ticket
