UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO HIGH WINDS AND DAMAGE SUSTAINED OVERNIGHT, THE SUNDAY HALF OF THIS EVENT HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED. THE WEATHER HAS NOT BEEN KIND TO US ON THIS OCCASION, BUT HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE OTHER EVENTS TO ENJOY IN THE FUTURE INSTEAD
Do you miss Weston Museum’s popular History Week events? This Summer, we are putting on a special History Weekend instead, with Vikings, traders, food and rides!

The main attraction will be the Hildsvin Viking Re-enactment Group, who will have battles in an arena, hold ‘kiddie vikes’ sessions where young children are trained to attack warriors, as well as having Saxon Getelds to ‘sail’. There will be Viking Oseberg tents, which will include an industrial area with Dark-Age forges and metal work, a woodworking area with an authentic pole lathe, shave horse, and other interactive activities such as a working kitchen, a glass exhibit, bone working, warriors (with a weapons rack), an authentic mint, a trader with various wares, a lords tent, wolf-dogs and a raven.
There will be historical groups at the event and you can have your runes read by a Norse Shaman who will give you a message from Odin. There will also be traders, food and drinks vendors, rides for young children, Punch and Judy, Magic Matt, face painting and you can meet the owls looked after by Avon Owls.
