Microsculpture

The Insect Photography of Levon Biss

Microsculpture is a ground breaking project by the British photographer Levon Biss. It presents insect specimens from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History like never before.  These images reveal an unexpected and often breathtaking beauty and make visible the many intricate adaptations to the form of insects – what entomologists call their microsculpture.

Microsculpture is a unique exhibition that presents insects like never before. The clarity and detail in the up to three metre prints brings normally unseen beauty to the audience, allowing them to study these stunning creatures in minute detail. The exhibition provides unique visual experience and celebrates the beauty of the natural world.

Fused Glass Workshop @ Weston Museum
Jul 13 @ 10:30 – 15:30
Fused Glass Workshop @ Weston Museum

Create your own unique and beautiful fused glass curve for yourself or as a gift. Please ensure you read the full details before booking.

Join Sarah Quick and Sarah Aumayer for one of their popular fused glass workshops where you can make your own unique and beautiful item. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who’ve caught the fused glass bug! You will have up to 2 hours to create your masterpiece, some people will finish more quickly. In our experience, 2 hours is plenty of time to create something beautiful.

This workshop is not suitable for children and we only accept bookings for people aged 16 and over. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

In this workshop you’ll create your own unique design on a pre-cut flat piece of glass. Sarah & Sarah will have lots of ideas to inspire you, including a selection of their own work. The pictures give you an idea of the type of design and the finished shape of the curve. You’ll be shown some basic cutting techniques to create your shapes, and given tips on how best to get the finished look. Uncomplicated designs tend to work best, the beauty of the glass enhances even the simplest of patterns.PLEASE NOTE – Sarah or Sarah will take your finished piece away to be fused in one of their kilns. It will be available for collection a couple of weeks after the workshop. On the day you’ll be given details of when and where to collect. You can also choose to have your item posted to you for an additional charge payable in cash on the day. Any items posted will be packaged in accordance with Sarah’s normal standards but no responsibility can be taken if an item is damaged in the post.

Refunds and cancellations – no refunds will be given if you cancel less than 7 days before the event. If the event is fully booked, we will operate a waiting list and you’ll automatically be notified if a place becomes available.

In Conversation With Patrick Gale @ Weston Museum

It’s payback time! Patrick set his latest novel in Weston-super-Mare and this summer he’ll be going back there to brave the locals. Actually they shouldn’t be too offended because he rather fell in love with the place in the course of his research, which shows in the book.

He’ll be talking in Weston’s beautifully refurbished museum in the old Gaslight Company building.

Tickets are £6, books will be on sale and there’ll be a pay bar at the museum.

Happy HeARTs @ Weston Museum

Happy HeARTs is a series of workshops that will allow you to enjoy the benefits that creative art brings to your emotional and physical well-being.

This journey of self-discovery and self-healing will unlock the power of the sub-concious mind, allowing you to de-stress, relax and unwind.

You will explore a variety of ancient tools including mandala, affirmations and journalling. Using these therapeutic processes you will create your own art using self-expression rather than having high expectations of creating a masterpiece.

These workshops will increase creativity, intuition and help to manifest your dreams. They will change your limiting beliefs, heal emotional pain and will help you manage emotions in a positive way. Increasing confidence and happiness, helping you achieve the life you want to live.

Hosted by Jo Green.
Therapeutic Art & Happiness Life Coach, Professional Animal Portrait Artist, founder of Creations by Fina & Happy HeARTs.
