Microsculpture
The Insect Photography of Levon Biss
Microsculpture is a ground breaking project by the British photographer Levon Biss. It presents insect specimens from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History like never before. These images reveal an unexpected and often breathtaking beauty and make visible the many intricate adaptations to the form of insects – what entomologists call their microsculpture.
Microsculpture is a unique exhibition that presents insects like never before. The clarity and detail in the up to three metre prints brings normally unseen beauty to the audience, allowing them to study these stunning creatures in minute detail. The exhibition provides unique visual experience and celebrates the beauty of the natural world.

Try your luck at our pub quiz, with a difference!
For a start, it’s not in a pub! We hold the quiz in the courtyard of the museum and as far we know, we’re the only museum with a regular quiz night.
You don’t need to be a history buff! Our quiz covers everything from music, film, television and so much more.
The quiz includes a mystery object round, so whilst you’re getting the drinks in at our fully licensed bar, you can also have a guess at a selection of historical objects and replicas.
It’s only £5 per team (of up to five people) and the pub landlord has kindly donated a prize for the winning team. The bar will be open from 6.30pm and the quiz begins at 7:30pm.

‘That’s the way to do it!’
Bring the whole family to the museum to enjoy a FREE traditional Punch and Judy show, a British seaside favourite. Shows will take place in our beautiful covered courtyard at 11am, 1pm and 3pm each Friday during August. Shows are performed by our wonderful, local Punch and Judy Professor – Paul Wheeler.
The show will be a traditional and historical one. As such it will contain scenes of comedic violence in a slap-stick style.

This workshop is aimed at families with children of infant and junior ages.
During this workshop we will explore the early forms of Punch and Judy, and how times have changed from the origin to the present day.
The purpose of this workshop is to make puppets and host puppet shows, therefore tickets are priced for children with the accompanying adults remaining in the workshop to form the audience.
Where tickets are purchased, preschoolers are free.
Sessions at- 11:30-12:30 & 13:30-14:30
